Heaven is a beach

“Sea shells glisten between the waves and the sand,

1000 little lights

Guiding me home.”

On the shoreline we are in a doorway between worlds; our solid earth and the watery mystery beyond. We fear it but it is the depth of our own life. On this line in the sound of waves and tinkling shells, each tiny shell, each fragment of coral or rock or bone reflects the pattern of beauty and mystery which lies as close to our hearts as the sound of blood in our veins. The beauty of each fragment contains the whole. Where does it come from?
