Palmistry

Sometimes I gaze at my hands and they seem to take on a life of their own. They communicate while I’m not looking, talking a parallel language while I am having a conversation.

If I am henna-ing someones hand I often need to take their hand in mine. At times I lay their open palm against the back of my left hand to get a good angle. I feel the vulnerability of their palm and it makes me skip a breath… but quickly, before they have time to notice that I briefly slipped through their skin, I continue the work of my hands talking with their hands in the language of pattern.
